If you have made your way here there is a chance you or someone you are lovingly supporting understand wholeheartedly how loss can feel like a new reality, one we didn't sign up for! Forever being a before and after that time.
Grief is messy. Grief is a natural (feels anything but!) reaction to a significant loss. It is universally an isolating experience, perhaps for several reasons - one being that we are for the most part not culturally the best at this loss stuff. I invite you to come as you are and share your story in a compassionate space.
One on one counselling sessions for adults from the comfort of a home-based practice in the gorgeous little seaside town of Jacobs Well (Northern Gold Coast). Online appointments are also available at your convenience, Australia wide. The rate is $85 for 60 minute session. Please still reach out if you require a negotiated rate or a session time outside of what looks to be available and we will go from there.

My special area if interest is grief and loss, as it is such a universal part of the human experience that each of us will go through at one point or another. Each and every one of us experiences grief differently. Our experience is as unique as our fingerprint!
My approach is person centered, meaning you have all of the answers inside you. You are the map creator, I am here to help you look at the map. I provide a non-judgmental, empathic space conducive for growth, healing and exploration of the inner skills you already have. During your counselling sessions I combine a variety of lived experience, techniques and modalities (Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Expressive Therapies) depending on best approach.
About Me
Hello ! I'm Kristen. Registered counsellor,
Wife, Mother of two busy little boys, chaser of spontaneous beach days in our gorgeous seaside town of Jacobs Well. My passion is connecting, be it to myself during my daily yoga, with loved ones over a cheese board or with clients during sessions.
My area of special interest is grief and loss. I am a firm believer that grief needs to be witnessed and consider it a privilege to stand beside you in your grief.
With a background in business management, the daily running of multiple businesses has given me a strong foundation in working with a range of stakeholders in order to achieve goals.
My direction soon changed after experiencing my own grief after the sudden loss of my younger sister.
Profound experiences such as significant loss can leave us forever changed.
My own experiences of grief has made me realise a greater need of grief education and support within our society.
So, I threw myself into my own healing journey, extensive study and volunteering for Griefline, landing here. Hi !

I am here for you on your journey, to walk beside you on your path. Nobody should feel alone in their grief.

Counselling is essentially 'talk therapy' and enables you a safe place, free of judgment to explore your feelings and thoughts. Counselling helps give clarity,perspective and guides you to live the life you desire. You have the answers within you. We work from where you are at, holding space for you on your journey.
We abide by our confidentiality policy, which will be explained in our first session together.
Being a registered ACA counsellor means you can be assured that I keep up to date with ongoing professional development and supervision. Additionally, that I work within adherence of codes of conduct and practice to help deliver a safe and ethical practice.
Investment ; $85 for a 60 minute session.
Thereafter Therapies is not apart of the government Medicare rebate system.
No referrals are needed to access counselling, simply book an appointment. Currently, no waitlist.
Grief ebbs and flows and as such, you are welcome to do the same. Come for one or as many sessions as you like. We can chat about this in our first session too.
Everyone's situation is unique and so your needs will be too.
For non-grief counselling, generally, it takes more then one session, the average is six sessions. However, you are at the centre of your care and the choice is yours entirely, you can choose to attend weekly, fortnightly or monthly. In general, we come to completion of sessions when you have achieved your goals (which is reviewed during the process) .
